Request a Remark

To be fair to all test takers, if you are not happy with your result you can apply for a review of your results (called an Enquiry on Results) at your test centre within six weeks of the test date.

What is the IELTS remarking process?

Here is what happens during the review process:
  • Your test paper (or your tape recording during the Speaking test) is couriered to the IDP IELTS Australia head office in Melbourne, Australia. This office operates separately to the test centres.
  • Test papers are re-marked by highly skilled people who are not aware of the original marks awarded for each of the components (Writing, Reading, Listening, Speaking).
  • Your test centre is then notified of the re-mark result and if the mark has changed, they issue a new TRF.
 

When can I apply for a review of my IELTS results?

The request for a remark must be made within six weeks of the date shown on your Test Report Form (TRF). You may ask to re-mark the whole test or any part of it (Listening, Reading, Writing or Speaking).

How much does an IELTS Enquiry on Results cost?

You must pay an enquiry fee, which is fully refunded if your band score changes. Contact your local test centre for more information about fees.

How long will the remarking process take?

The Enquiry on Results will be processed within six to eight weeks. You will receive a letter confirming your final score from your test centre after this time.
