Registering

Once I’ve registered as a candidate, are my details held in the database?
Yes. Once you’ve successfully registered your details will be held and fields pre-populated when you book a test.

I have no last name, but the last name field is required, what do I do?
You need to enter a dash (-) in the Last Name field.

Is country of origin where I’m now living or where I’m originally from?
Country of origin is the country of the passport or National Identity Card you will use to apply for the test.

What happens if I don’t agree with the Terms & Conditions?
You must agree to the Terms and Conditions in order to book a test.

FAQ – What do I do if I need to change my details?
You are able to edit your details if needed by using the Edit button at the bottom of the page.

FAQ – I’ve entered my username and the default password and I cannot login, what do I do?
Re-enter your details and try logging in again.

FAQ – I’ve forgotten my password, how do I reset it?
Simply select “Reset Password Here” and follow the prompts.

FAQ – How do I change my password?
Mouse over your email address at the top in the grey bar beneath the IDP IELTS Australia logo. Click on “Change Password” and follow the prompts.

FAQ – How do I update my details?
You can update your details via the My Account area located in the grey bar beneath the IELTS logo, or by clicking on the “Update Details” button

FAQ – How do I book a test?
To book and pay for a test click “Book a Test” and follow the prompts. *Note: The booking and payment portal will timeout after 10 minutes if the application and payment details are not complete. If this happens you will need to start the booking process once again.

FAQ – I have clicked on “Find Sessions” but no sessions have appeared. What do I do?
Sessions at a given Centre will not appear if there is no test on a given date, or if the test session is full.

FAQ – What is the difference between “AC” and “GT” modules?
AC” means the Academic version of the IELTS test. This is, generally, for candidates wishing to study at undergraduate or postgraduate levels, and for those seeking professional registration. Please check with the body to which you are applying to see what version of IELTS they require.

GT” means the General Training version. This version is, generally, for candidates wishing to migrate to an English speaking country and for those wishing to train or study at below degree level. Please check with the body to which you are applying to see what version of IELTS they require.

FAQ – Which module should I select?
If you are in doubt as to which module to take, you should contact the organisation you are applying to in order to check their requirements.

FAQ – The test date I require is not listed here. What do I do?
If the test date you require is not listed you should contact the test centre or search for sessions at another test centre.

FAQ – Do I enter my street address or postal address?
You should enter your postal address.

FAQ – What is a National Identity Card?
A National Identity Card is an official identity document provided to all citizens in some countries. Please note: it is not the same as other forms of identification such as a driver’s licence, etc.

FAQ – I don’t have a passport or National Identity Card, can I still book a test?
If you do not have a passport or National Identity Card you will not be able to book your test online, but may be able to in person. Please contact the test centre where you wish to book the test directly.

FAQ – I have a passport, but it has expired. Can I still book a test?
Your passport must be valid in order to book the test online Please contact test centre where you wish to book the test directly.

FAQ – What are considered special requirements?
Some IELTS candidates have special requirements which make it difficult for them to demonstrate their ability in English. Examples include candidates with a permanent or long-term disability, such as hearing/sight impairment, dyslexia or a speech impediment; or with short-term difficulties such as a broken arm.

FAQ – What is a recognising organisation?
A recognising organisation is one of over 6,000 organisations
worldwide, including universities, employers, professional bodies, immigration authorities and other government agencies. A list of recognising organisations that accept IELTS scores can be found here.

FAQ – What do I do if my recognising organisation is not contained in the list provided?
Please contact the test centre where you have booked your test directly if you cannot see your recognising organisation in the list provided.

FAQ – When I confirm my booking how much time do I have to pay for my test?
Once you start the booking Wizard you have 10 minutes to complete the booking details and make payment.

FAQ – What happens if I don’t pay for my test immediately?
You must pay for your test within 10 minutes of commencing the booking process to ensure your test is booked.

FAQ – Can I cancel my test after I’ve made payment?
You must contact the test centre if you wish to cancel your test after you have made payment.

What if I don’t have a credit card or PayPal account?
You need either a credit card or PayPal account to book your test online. If you do not have a credit card or PayPal account you will need to apply in person. For further details contact the test centre.

FAQ – Can I pay with a credit card that is not MasterCard or Visa?
No. At this time we only accept MasterCard and Visa cards.

FAQ – Do I need to bring my payment summary with me to the test?
No.  Your payment summary is not required on test day.

FAQ – What happens after I’ve booked and paid for my test?
A payment confirmation email will be sent to your nominated email address and you will be contacted by the test centre where you have made the booking closer to the test date.
